Crazy Costume Ideas for Halloween

Even though Halloween is a time when people get the chance to be whoever they like and have fun dressed up in their cute or horrific costumes, many people choose to stay on the same line of traditional costumes, sometimes even wearing the same costume over and over again, until it is no longer wearable.

But on the other hand, there are also people for whom Halloween is a challenge for finding new, exciting costumes that will propel them into the spotlight each and every time. If your friends have all eyes on you waiting for another costume that will make their Halloween day more beautiful, then you should not betray their expectations. Below are some ideas which may help you maintain your reputation of the Mr. or Mrs. of the Original Halloween Costume.

Youngsters and adults all get together in front of the TV when Sesame Street starts. If you used to watch that show too you can get your inspiration from there and create the best disguises you have ever had: the Cookie Monster. Whether you are a child, a woman or a man, you can find a Cookie Monster costume specially designed for your size and your preferences. The blue little monster eating everything that stays in its way will certainly have lots of positive comments all night long. In fact, it will be quite hard for someone to refrain from laughing when seeing you dressed in such a funny costume. In addition to that, you will have a great excuse if you feel like eating all day long this Halloween!

If Sesame Street is not to your taste, you can try to find some inspiration from the underwater world. The red lobster costume will certainly not remain unnoticed no matter where you decide to go this Halloween. Thus, it can be the perfect costume if you want to amaze and at the same time put a smile on the face of the entire party.

There will be nobody who can resist your charms and even though you may have some troubles with your numerous hands, you will still feel comfortable in this costume. Plus, you can always put your arms on the lady's waist without her knowing if you did it on purpose or it was just another arm from the lobster which got lost in the crowd! Quite a cheek, some may say!

These two costumes can be great if you are searching for something which will never be forgotten along the years! You will get lots of comments and will get to keep your reputation, at least until next year, when another challenge will torment your mind!

Five Monster Fun Halloween Ideas

So are you thinking maybe you want to have a Halloween party or maybe want to impress a group of friends by bringing a creepy, unique looking Halloween dish that will be quite a conversation piece?

Here are some fun easy ideas that can make ready-made foods into awesome festive snacks people will love.

1. Ritzy the snake. You got it, ritz crackers, with a touch of M & M minis, black ball nonpareils, used to decorate cookies which can be found in any grocery store, laffy taffy and peanut butter. Stretch out a line of ritz crackers just as you would a falling line of dominos join each ritz cracker together with peanut butter, with the last ritz cracker laying down flat and half a ritz cracker up right in the middle of the flat cracker, this will be used as the snakes face. Use the M & M minis as the snake eyes with the black ball nonpareils as the tiny eyeball pupils and as the snake nostrils. The M & M minis can be used as buttons on every other ritz cracker on the snakes body with the peanut butter as the glue. Cut a long, narrow strip of either green or red laffy taffy as the snakes slithery tongue, creating a small hole as the mouth to place the laffy taffy in and tah dah, an adorable decorative snake sure to be a conversation piece.

2. The green evil eye. Use carved out green apples with gummy fruit pieces as eyeball parts and black frosting as eyebrows and pupils with white frosting as accent and to act as the glue. Begin with a nice crispy green apple at room temperature making it easier to carve a round shallow hole out and making it easy for parts to stick together, place a gummy fruit circle in the middle of the carved out hole in the apple using the white frosting as the glue and painting the gummy fruit circle black with the black frosting. In the center of the black painted gummy fruit circle build up an eyeball with the white frosting, put a black dot in the center of the white eyeball with the black frosting or maybe use a dark-chocolate chip as the dot if that would be easier. Use a cake decorating tool to paint a black frosting eyebrow around the top of the carved apple edge or maybe a black ready-to-use fondant, a cake-decorating ingredient available in craft stores if drawing is not your thing. You can create as many evil apple eyes as you like and all pieces and parts are edible.

3. Brains, gooey brains. Peeling away the rind, use a honeydew melon to create a very realistic monsterous brain. Use a paring knife or an X-Acto knife to cut deep slashes or deep long cuts into it, just as you see on a human brain. Then place the melon into a large mixing bowl. In a second mixing bowl, mix up four 3-ounce packages of strawberry-flavored or a red Jell-o of your choice, per the directions given on the back of the package. Pour the Jell-0 over the melon until the deep grooves are each filled and the melon is completely covered with the gelatin. Refrigerate overnight, then scoop out the size of melon, or brain you desire, with a large spoon or spatula and scrape away some of the gelatin.

4. Ghostly. This little decorative idea is very simple, but soo much fun. Use a clear plastic or glass drinking glass, fill it up with milk. Decorate the drinking glass with black fabric tape or with black electrical tape cutout eyes. Cut out oval dots in the desired eye size, then cut a C-shape at the top corner of the oval black dot, and place them 3 or 4 inches down from the top edge of the drinking glass. Simple, yet very cute little ghosts.

5. Monster spiders. Begin this little project with a dark chocolate clear plastic dessert cup for the spider body, and fill it with ready-made dark chocolate mousse, piped from a decorating bag fitted with a 1 m tip. Break chocolate-covered pretzels into pieces to use as spider legs. Use a chocolate truffle as the arachnid head and attach small candy icing eyeballs with a tiny amount of melted chocolate in the center of the white candy eyeball. Use melted chocolate as the glue to attach each piece. On the spiders back, use 4 or 5 brightly colored red or orange M & M minis and line them up in a straight line as a creepy spider spine. Before placing the spider on a plate, use a white plate and with a bamboo skewer draw long u-shaped lines of raspberry and yellow mango dessert sauces on the entire plate to look like a large web, then place the spider in the middle of the plate. Tah dah, a gnarly looking edible spider.

What Is the Origin of Halloween?

Halloween is a very popular holiday for young and old alike. It is second to only Christmas! It is a holiday that is steeped in a truly fascinating history and folklore. So, where did this holiday come from? What is the origin of Halloween?

All Hallows Eve was originally a pagan holiday to honor the dead and has been in existence in some form or another for over 2,000 years. It can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in England and Ireland.

Halloween takes place on October 31, which is the last day of the Celtic calendar. The roots of the holiday lay in the feast of Samhain. Samhain would signify the end of the summer and the beginning of the new Celtic year. It was a large harvest festival that had many ceremonial rites that were mostly steeped in superstition.

The Celtics thought that the souls of the dead would roam the streets of the villages at night. Knowing that not all of these spirits were friendly, they started leaving out gifts and treats to pacify the evil spirits. They felt that if the spirits were appeased then the following years crops would be plentiful. This is the custom that evolved into today's trick or treating.

Halloween, as we know it today, is derived from mostly Old English era traditions. This includes the carving of jack 'o lanterns and bobbing for apples. Regardless of your traditions, Halloween can be great fun to be shared with family and friends.

The Best of the Best For Halloween - The Top Five Scariest Movie Costumes

Without further delay, the top five scariest Halloween costume ideas. Ready your security blanket, and read on.

5. Alien (1979) This movie may only be scarier than Signs due to the fact that, they're in space. You have to wait for the second movie, Aliens, to see the whole evil. And instead of the aliens coming to destroy the world, they're just going to destroy you and everyone you know, in space. While this seems less destructive, it gives the old lust for life a kick-start. Plus, monsters with consecutively extending heads automatically rank on a top five list. It's a little-known rule in the monster hierarchy.

4. Hellraiser (1987) Name a group of sadistic demons after something that sounds robotic and you've got yourself a winner. Throw in a weapon equipped puzzle-box to summon them, and even I'll ignore the incompetent dramaturgy. In this realm, the Cenobites rule, and you don't even need to watch the dramatic down-turns to appreciate the Cenobites and their S&M theatrics. They would be the coolest Halloween costumes, ever. To top it all off, their leader has hundreds of little pins sticking out of his head. I haven't sewn a stitch since seeing this film, for fear of inadvertently summoning him.

3. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) The best horror films come equipped with a foreboding child's nursery rhyme. The best horror monsters attack you when you're at your most vulnerable - humanity's inevitable weakness - the REM cycle. Freddy Krueger does both the rhyme and the prime time attack in one shot. He then forces you to relive this nightmare, seven more times over the course of a decade. Those are some serious monster skills. And when you watch the entire Nightmare on Elm Street film series in sequential order, there's really no fighting the zzz's - you're finished. Freddy will get you, eventually. I'm quite sure of it.

2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974; 2003) What tops a serial killing dream cycle parasite? I say, a demented serial killer with a chainsaw and his sadistic mastermind brother in the middle of nowhere. What makes this film stand out is not the slasher scenes (mostly because I covered my eyes during these parts). It's really the creepy and awkward 70s fashion, uncomfortable dialogue, and social boundary crossing that sets the stage for the slaughter, and makes the teenagers deaths almost a relief - at least they won't have any more bad lines. A thought followed by your recognition of empathy for the serial killers - which lasts about a second before you see the dead people still decomposing in the house. At which point you shut the damn thing off. Congrats to those who finished watching this movie. Your stomachs are iron-clad and your resistance to the fight or flight response is impressive. Although you might consider that psychiatric evaluation you've always wanted.

1. Saw (2004) Call me chicken if you like - I didn't finish this one either. The combination of gore, deadly machines, and puppets was too much to bear. Maximum fear-levels were reached within the first 45 minutes. If you have a personal vendetta against me, please - get a clue, and show up at my door in a scary puppet or clown costume. Again, it's not so much the movie itself, as the mental images and physical memory of what puppets, mimes, and clowns alike have done to torture the lowly coulrophobics of the world.

Surely I am not the only one who sees the link between the Billy the Puppet from Saw, and the infamous Pennywise? It isn't even a movie, it was a TV miniseries. Which meant mass visual consumption of the old, "clown in the gutter with teeth" bit. Go talk to the residents of the nearest mental institution and they'll tell you - clowns are the ultimate in scary.

There is no such thing as a funny, cute, or entertaining clown. They're just positioning you for attack. Run "horror movies with clowns" through the Google machine and see what you get - a ton of freaky clown movies that you'll never want to see. And why? Because clowns are infinitely more scary than just about any other monster there is. Their evil comes from feeding on the happiness of children. Which is why, if you are going to try to effectively make someone lose bowel control in the face of fear, you absolutely must be dressed as a clown. It doesn't even need to be scary, as clowns are innately so.

To embody any of these monsters prior to, on, or in advance of Halloween (just to mess with people's minds) you might want to check out http://www.buyscaryhalloweencostumes.com/. They carry costumes for most of the monsters I've just covered in the top five. Unfortunately, viewing their scary clown page was a little too much, so I'm going to go hug my knees and rock myself to my happy place now. Happy movie monster viewing, top five list creating, and Halloween costume planning!

Costumes For Dogs on Halloween

When choosing costumes for dogs on Halloween many may think this is a simple task. Those who have made the attempt already know the task is many things but simple in not one of them. Costumes for dogs require many considerations that must be addressed. Some may think that is has to do with the way the dog looks. One thing for sure the way the dog looks is far from the most important issue.

To pull this off the task is going to require some thought especially if you prefer the process to not be a nightmare. With some though and planning Halloween can be fun for the dog and the whole family.

You need to be aware of the things that can go wrong. Especially if you choose the wrong dog costume on Halloween, safety, too restrictive and many factors must be considered first. Does the costume have choking hazards? With the dog be able to easily go to the bathroom? There could be parts of the Halloween costume that will cause the dog to trip and fall? There are many things to consider first. The dog may just refuse to wear the costume or be too restricting for the dog. That being the case it is possible the dog could just tear off the costume even before you are off to the event.

Some of the other things to look into first would be quality, sizing and the overall design for the dog. Sizing requires careful measurements too loose or too tight can be a mess also. If you are buying a costume for the dog they provide measurements to help you select the right size. The online resources will provide recommendations for small medium and large dogs and instruction for taking measurements.

All costume designs will just not work for all dogs. Most dog costumes will come with a recommendation for what type of dogs the costume can be worn by. Kid's Pirate Costumes - How To Get Through Halloween Without Being Forced To Walk The Plank

"Walk the plank yer scurvy dog," yelled my six year old son from the end of the hallway. I had a sneaky feeling he was talking to me, but I wasn't going to humour him. "Or I'll scuttle yer longboat," he added. There was a definite noise of that plastic sword I'd given him for his birthday whacking the door of his room. "I wanna be a pirate for Halloween, okay mom?" And he shut his door again.

Halloween. Here it comes again. Are you ready? Each year I tell myself I'm going to be ready this year, and every year October takes me completely by surprize. I guess you know the feeling. But at least I know what kind of a costume to organise this year. I have my orders...

My first thought when faced with making a kid's pirate costume is to do it myself. Torn off jeans, a scraggly old t-shirt, a red bandana and that plastic sword. Maybe an eye-patch and some black boots. You could grab all that from a thrift shop for about five dollars. That would have been what we would have worn when we were kids. But not so much these days. You would have to have been dead these last few years not to have noticed the furore created by Jerry Bruckheimer in the way of pirates. Johnny Depp and those pirates of the Caribbean have so much to answer for. Not more cheapo Halloween kids pirate costumes for you! Oh no. Hand over yer gold, ye scallywags.

I have the added fun of having a four year old daughter who has been kidnapped by her pirate captain brother and totally converted to a life of crime and scullduggery. There was no such thing as a "Pirate Princess" in my day. I remember Captain Hook, Smee the first mate, a blood-thirsty lot of uglies and a parrot. The only girls involved were Tinkerbell - a fairy who hardly counts - and Wendy, a good girl, with her head screwed on properly and a decent respect for her parents. There were no 'wenches' - not in the kind of pirate stories I knew about when I was four! And certainly no Pirate Princesses! I suppose an Elizabeth Swann costume has to be dashed up now. Or a hot pink number with black skulls on the skirt. What do pirate princesses wear, anyway?

Thank me piratical stars for the internet, is all I can say. I'll be jumping online and handing over my gold to the best seller of online kids pirate costumes I can find. What harm can it do? The range is fantastic, they deliver to your door and best of all you can show the little buccaneers exactly what they're getting on screen first before you buy it. If I hear any cries of "But I don't like my costume," I swear I'll make them all walk the plank.

How To Choose The Perfect Toddler Halloween Costumes

Finding toddler Halloween costumes is almost too much fun for us parents. There are just so many styles available in toddlers costumes and kids make these outfits look oh so good when they're wearing them. Let's face it, there are so many cool costumes out there that just don't look right on adults but they look fabulous on the kids!

I think the most fun thing for parents is that toddlers are generally too young to pick their own costumes so this is our chance to pick one for them. You can dress your child in a costume that suits their own personality, or even pick a costume that matches your own for a duo-style parent/child paired costume. Take your time while shopping and you'll soon see that a wise choice will allow your little one to be in the spotlight all night long.

One of the most sought after and most popular themes for toddler Halloween costumes is animals. We all know how much kids love animals and there are many animal costumes that your child can wear. Anything having to do with the jungle is well loved and the lions, tigers, elephants, and monkeys seem to catch eyes. You can also go more whimsical and choose animals such skunks, dragons, unicorns, and the new and exciting My Little Pony are also wonderful choices for toddler costumes.

If you want to go out dressed as a team with your toddler, there are many Halloween costumes that can be turned into parent/child sets easily, or you can buy such a set. Star Wars is huge right now, and many parents like dressing up as a character from the movie such as Darth Vader and dressing their toddler up as Yoda. Or maybe a woman will dress up as Amidala and dress her little girl up in a Princess Leia costume.

Other movie and character themes are also easy to get and fun to wear. Movies such as Toy Story, Iron Man, and others have both adult and toddler's Halloween costumes available. The muscle man costumes are so cool when paired with the adult versions and the Toy Story Woody and Jessie are so cute in their pair's outfits. This makes it easy to find a character for each of you.

Obviously, there are also all the classic Halloween costumes that come in toddler sizes. Spooky witches, tiny vampires, and little Devils are all very popular if you are looking for a more "scary" or dark costume. Many people like doing this because it fits their toddler's personalities so well, and adorable kids in scary costumes are just a fun combination. And don't miss out on this year's really cool light up costumes that sparkle in the night!

Princesses and knights are also easy to find if you are looking for brighter Halloween costumes. Raggedy Anne and Andy costumes aren't as popular these days, but this can be a fun new twist on an old theme. Your child might also have a favorite character from a DVD or a TV series. Finally, characters from popular childrens shows such as Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street are also all-time favorites of just about everyone. Monsters Inc is another popular theme this year.

As you can see, finding toddler Halloween costumes is easier than you may have originally thought. Think about your child's individual personality, their interest in popular cartoons, characters, or animals, and then consider whether you would like to dress as a parent/child duo and then you'll be able to easily make your choice. The hard part comes when you only get to choose only one Halloween costume for them to wear on the big night!

There's no doubt that one of the most popular toddler Halloween costumes is a Toddler Animal Costume. Kids love them and there's such a great variety to choose from. On the other hand, if you'd like to let everyone see how your kids can be naughty one minute and nice the next then you may want to take a look at the red hot Kids Devil Costumes. Whichever costume you choose, you kids will look adorable!

Halloween Gifts - 5 People to Remember When Making Your Halloween Gift List!

Halloween is a time for fun, family, and friends. If you can't celebrate Halloween with the ones you love, why not send them a Halloween gift to remind them of how special they are to you? Here are a few people in your life who might really appreciate a Halloween gift:

Grandparents
It's wonderful if Grandma and Grandpa can see the little kids in action on Halloween. But many grandparents live far away from their grandkids.

The grandparents will feel more involved with the grandkids, and enjoy Halloween more, when you send them a present such as a Halloween shirt or decoration with the grandkids names on it.

If you have a "must-share" photo of the little ghosts and goblins, why not share it with Grandma and Grandpa in an e-card or a Halloween frame?

College Kids
Although most college kids celebrate Halloween by going to a party, they still love to be remembered by parents or grandparent at holidays. Remind them of your love by sending them a basket filled with their favorite treats, or some funky decorations for their dorm room.

Armed Services Members
If anyone needs a little holiday love and sweetness, it's the members of the armed services! A gift basket or picture from home will certainly remind them of how much they are loved and missed. If you're sending candy to military personnel, be sure that it won't melt if they're serving in a hot climate.

Adult Children
You're never too old to love Halloween! Don't forget your adult children this year. Brighten their holiday with gourmet chocolates, a gift basket, or perhaps a personalized decoration or candy bowl.

Hostess Gifts
Are you invited to one of those over-the-top Halloween parties this year? Lucky you! If you know someone who enjoys Halloween that much, then you probably want to thank them with a small hostess gift.

If you want to surprise them during the party, perhaps bring a bottle of wine with a Halloween label or a fun decoration to add to their collection.

After the party, a gift basket or a picture frame with a photo of the party are thoughtful Halloween gifts.

How Do You Choose a Halloween Costume Suitable for an Adult Couple?

The rise in demand for adult Halloween costumes over the last few years has been astonishing. It seems like every year that more and more people are getting into the craze for dressing up at Halloween - especially the adults.

It used to just be a thing for the kids. Getting them dressed up for the night was a fun activity for the whole family and I guess that some of that fun has worn off on the "grown-ups".

The trouble is that where a child's outfit could always be just a bit homemade, we adults are always looking for something that's going to make us stand out a bit. This is doubly difficult if there are two of you going to the same party and as a result you are looking for adult couple Halloween costumes rather than just individual outfits.

As we get closer to Halloween there are various directions it is possible to go in if you want to purchase Halloween outfits for couples. Make Your Own Michael Jackson Outfit Easily This Halloween

Everyone has their role-model, favorite singer or artist, and obsession. My sons personal obsession is Michael Jackson: the king of pop! Everything about him for my son is unique, unforgettable, hot and eccentric. Not only was Michael the best, had a voice that gave you goose bumps all over your spine, and could dance like a demon but he also had a great taste in style!

Have you ever really paid attention to the clothes he wore? (RIP the King) Every single costume or outfit he chose was incredible and constantly talked about. For many years my son would dress up like him for various occasions such as birthday and costume parties, talent shows and gigs.

He's pulled off almost every look the King of pop had chosen such as the "Black and White" video style, the "moonwalk" look, similar clothes to the ones he wore in his "The Way You Make Me Feel" video, so on and so forth.

But for some reason he never pulled off the very famous "Thriller" look which made millions back in the 80's. The eerie ghostly costumes worn in the music video were a complete success and many people would imitate the look. After thinking for a while, he decided that he would remake the "Thriller" look by Michael Jackson for Halloween this year!

A lot of hard work is required for re-creating the look Michael Jackson wore in his video, but we are creative and have great imaginations, so I have no doubt that his costume will be outstanding. It's a great thing he's skinny, and has long legs, so he's going to buy skinny red leather pants, a red leather jacket which is ripped and has holes with high sleeves, and a regular black tight shirt underneath.

The shoes that will be chosen are definitely going to be black, curved in a square way with bright white socks to show - we want to the look to as perfect as it can be! I'm not exactly sure if Michael wore a belt in the video since the quality of the video is so dark, but my son is going to wear one anyway, which will also be made of leather, thin and tight on his waist.

No accessories are required for this particular Michael Jackson costume since the total look is that of a zombie; in this case a lot of makeup and a corresponding hairstyling is necessary. After researching a few makeup tutorials, we will go out to the costume store and drugstore to purchase the required products.

Michael looked very yellowish in the video, so my son's skin will be painted a light tint of yellow and beige too, with black eyeliner smudged on his eyelids and on the underside of his eyes. Special lens will be worn too for special attention and to really be considered as the original zombie Michael was in this famous video. I'm very excited for this look my son will be wearing as he is paying a special tribute to the King of Pop.

I still have a month left of hard work because I'm also thinking of sewing some of the clothes myself, it all depends on the time and help I receive. Wish me good luck and pray that my son will look exactly like one of the ghouls in the "Thriller" music video! We hope all your Michael Jackson Outfits are great ones!

Indiana Jones Halloween Costume - The Makings of a True Adventure

The Indiana Jones Halloween costume has been, and remains, one of the most popular Halloween costumes for adventurous little boys everywhere. While our kids are surrounded by gadgets and the latest technology, the fact remains that nothing quite captures the heart of a young boy like a dangerous trek into nature to discover lost treasures from yesterday.

Indiana Jones's character is an adventurer, soldier, and professor of archeology. He first appeared in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 and went on to do 3 more feature films in the series. There was also a show produced that ran for four years, which depicted a young Indiana Jones going on adventures around the world. He also has his own attraction at Disneyland, something that elevates him to iconic status, particularly amongst youngsters.

Both the Indiana Jones movies and the series are based in the past. The first movies was set in 1936, and pitted Jones against the evil Nazis. The series which was produced showing a young Jones, also incorporated many historical figures from that time, like Ernest Hemmingway and John Ford, into the show.

This mix of adventure and history is a potent combination, and the backdrop of the time period allows for a simpler setting, and more focus on the storyline and the characters, rather than the gadgets or special effects like you see today.

One of the main appeals of the Indiana Jones Halloween costume, and the reason his character is so enduring, is Jones's simplistic fight against good and evil. He undertakes noble quests, and uses his smarts, and his environment, to emerge victorious. What little boy wouldn't want to be able to imagine himself as that character? (The utterly cool, and iconic signature hat he wears while doing it doesn't hurt either!)

Jones is also depicted as very human, with fears and insecurities that he's not afraid to show. He has a famous fear of snakes and is often found in situations where he is forced to confront that phobia. The fact that someone so noble and brave can be paralyzed by such a common fear endears him to youngsters even more. It allows them the freedom to be the adventurer, to set off on their own mysterious trek, confident that they too can triumph even with their own fears and insecurities.

While kids love the adventure and bravado that Jones represents, parents love how he incorporates a reverence for knowledge into his character. Jones has an encyclopedic knowledge of ancient cultures and civilizations, and is shown to be a teacher of archeology at a college. The fact that he can be a learned and educated man, while still being rugged and open for adventure makes him a great role model for little boys everywhere.

He undertakes noble quests, and uses his smarts, and his environment, to emerge victorious. What little boy wouldn't want to be able to imagine himself as that character? (The utterly cool, and iconic signature hat he wears while doing it doesn't hurt either!)

The Indiana Jones outfit allows your little adventurer to create his own memories of bold treks into the unknown. It allows him to search for ancient relics, rely on his smarts and ingenuity, and somewhere along the journey, to find his own strength of character.

4 Tips To Help You Choose The Best Child Halloween Costume

When shopping for a child Halloween costume we're sure that you want to find the right costume for your needs. Whether you're shopping at your local retail store or shopping online, there are a few things that you're always going to want to keep in mind. These factors will be sure to not only help you find the best costume for your child, but they will also save you time and frustration on Halloween Eve.

Your child is most likely going to want a certain character or certain type of costume. This is just fine and you can still look for a specific costume to suit your child's tastes or preferences, but you need to make sure the costume has some, if not all, of the below qualities before you add it to your shopping cart.

Easy On and Off

There's nothing worse than thinking you've found the right costume and then being disappointed. The first thing you'll want to look for when choosing a child Halloween costume is to be sure that it's easy to put on. There's nothing worse than spending an hour trying to force your child's costume on while the other kids are impatient to go trick-or-treating. In order for a costume to be easy to put on you should be able to slip it on easily with snaps or zippers so that your child can head out the door without a lot of aggravation.

Not only should it be easy to put on but it should also be easy to take off at the end of the night. This is also an extremely important consideration for those parents with small kids who aren't yet potty trained, or even for older kids who still have trouble making it to the restroom. When you can just slip the costume off, it makes things so much easier. Many of the infant and toddler costumes have leg snap closures just for these instances

They Must Be Comfortable

It may seem like a no brainer that your child Halloween costume should be comfortable but sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in the cuteness of the costume and not the comfort. If your costume isn't comfortable to wear, your child isn't going to want to wear it all night long and your money will be wasted. It doesn't have to feel lighter than air, but there should be somewhat lightweight and soft to the touch. Basically, the child's costume should feel no different than wearing normal clothes. The only exception to this may be costumes that have masks.

Your Child Must Be Able to See Clearly

This is a big factor to consider when shopping for children's costumes. Some costumes have masks and even more of them have attached hoods. If your child can't see very clearly because of the costume's design, this could spell big trouble. You should always teach your child to be aware of his or her surroundings and part of that is being able to see everything around them. You'll want to be sure that any eye holes or ties are positioned in a way that makes for the correct line of sight.

Easy to Move Around In

Sure, your child might want to look like a robot or a favorite superhero, but if the costume is restrictive in any way, your child might find it hard to move around in. Be sure the costume you choose has no stiff or restrictive sections that could hamper your child's movements in anyway. Polyester costumes are generally very easy to move in and fit well.

These are important factors to consider when it comes to shopping for a child Halloween costume. It may sound like a lot to think about but trust me when I say that you'll easily be able to find costumes that fit your criteria. Not only will your children be comfortable and safe, but they'll also have the time of their life on Halloween Eve, the most fun holiday of the year.

Halloween Hair Ideas

Halloween hairstyles: Halloween is a great time to dye your hair and have some fun with it, whether it's Halloween wigs, spray colour, clip-ins extensions, hair falls or hair dyes...

Halloween. Time for pumpkins, trick-or-treat, broomsticks, bonfires, toffee apples, costume parties and best of all... wild hair colour! So here are some ideas and tips for Halloween hair styles to help you get in the mood and prepare for your party...

Witch Halloween hair idea?

Traditionally witch's hair has always been black or green, but if you want to try something different with your hair dye this Halloween, here are a few suggestions.

Pumpkin witch hair: For this cheeky Halloween character, dye your hair orange and add some streaks of black around the front, or if you want something more subtle and have naturally dark hair, just add a streak of orange to the fringe.White witch hair: For this 'good girl gone bad' look, bleach your hair up to blonde and use the Fudge Dye 'Whiter Shade of Pale' to get that pure white colour. (Note: NEVER bleach your hair to white, it will fall out.)

Halloween hairstyles tip: If you decide you want to dye you hair black for a classic witch, I would recommend you only use semi-permanent (e.g. 2-3 washes). Permanent black is a massive commitment and should only be removed by a professional.

Thirsty for Vampire hair...

Black hair with a white stripe is the classic vampire hair. For something more modern, try flowing, red, fiery hair like Victoria from the Twilight books. Lovers of gothic vampire hairstyles take note... did you know that during the Middle Ages it was believed that red hair and green eyes were the sign of a vampire?

Red is the one colour that can make the crossover from the realm of natural hair colours to alternative colour. If you want to stand out and fancy red, try a more vibrant dye - like Special Effects 'Blood Red'. If you're not so daring but you like red, how about dyeing the tips of your hair red, so it looks like they have been dipped in blood?

Halloween hairstyles tip: The great thing with just dyeing the ends of your hair is that they are easily trimmed off later if you have work or school to go back to.

Movie-based ideas for Halloween hairstyles

Film characters are always a favourite at Halloween fancy dress parties. So here are some ideas for film characters with fantastic colourful hair...

The Mad Hatter played by Jonny Depp in the new 'Alice in Wonderland' film has the most fantastically curly and fluorescent orange hair. A vibrant hair colour for someone who wants to stand out from the crowd. For this shade I suggest RAW Blood Orange Demi-Permanent Hair Colour. Why so serious? The Joker as played by Heath Ledger in the latest Batman 'Dark Night' has the most sinister, matted, washed-out lime-green hair. Get his wicked look with Manic Panic Electric Lizard Semi-Permanent Hair Dye.The Corpse Bride (Emily) played by Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton's animated film is a wonderful character for a more classic Halloween costume. Her flowing, midnight blue hair gives her that creepy, cold, undead look. Use True Blue Raw Hair Dye to get this cool hair colour.

Whatever you decide to go for, I hope you have a happy Halloween!

How to Find Cheap Halloween Costumes

Pre-Halloween Sales
Year-round Halloween stores experience a huge jump in their business once the leaves start turning colors and the summer heat fades. In order to keep their businesses from going under the rest of the year, many store offer summer sales to help move out old inventory in preparation for the new costumes coming in. This can be a great time to pick up a cheap costume for the coming Halloween season.

Post-Halloween Sales
Once Halloween is over, some retailers are left with extra costume's sitting on the shelves. These costumes have to go before the store's lease runs out, so they usually sell them at a greatly discounted price. This strategy applies mostly to brick and mortar stores, but some online stores will look to clear space in the warehouse immediately after Halloween as well. If you're not too pick, and you're willing to stash your costume in the closet for a whole year, you can find some great post-Halloween bargains.

Buying Online
Shopping online has disadvantages, you don't get to try things on and you normally have to pay shipping, but you can also find cheaper costumes than in many of the stores that pop up around Halloween. Online stores also offer huge selections, and you don't have to wait in line or battle with a crazed shopper to find a cheap costume.

Using Coupons
Many online stores will offer coupons that can be used to save extra money on costumes. These coupons are sometimes available through promotions, or through the company's website. Social media pages have also become popular for coupon distribution, so check a company's Facebook or Twitter page before you buy from them. Obtaining these coupons usually doesn't require more than "liking" the company.

Trades
Although you've been a vampire the last two years, your best friend may not have. Trading costumes is a great way to get more use out of a costume that you've loved, and to save money. If you have friends who live far away, you can trade costumes for only the cost of postage, making for a very cheap costume. This works especially well for elaborate costumes that can be traded and then returned.

The Last Minute
If you're brave enough, you can wait until a day or two before Halloween or even the day of to try and score a bargain. By this time most of the Halloween stores will have been picked clean, and what is left is just a few scraps of cloth and some fake blood. These cheap costumes may make great additions to homemade designs, and occasionally you can find a real gem that was tucked into a back corner.

Make Your Own
Homemade costumes are great way to save money, but without planning you can end up spending more than you anticipated. When making a cheap costume yourself, consider the time spent designing the costume, shopping for the fabrics, and putting the costume together. While this may be an enjoyable experience, a costume that took 25 hours to make and only saved you $10 may not be economical.

Enjoy Yourself
Halloween isn't always about having the flashiest costume or the scariest mask, and most of the time you can have fun with a simple and cheap costume. Make sure that you're comfortable in your costume and that you're spending the holidays with friends and you'll have a memorable Halloween.

Avatar Costumes For Kids - The Ideal Outfit Can Be Yours

Avatar is a movie that adults and children around the world have come to love. With its award winning cinematography, special effects and memorable characters, it is no wonder that children are fascinated with the characters. Here are some tips to help you make your own avatar costumes for kids.

Chances are, if your child is a girl, they will want to dress up as Neytiri. Most boys will want to dress as Jake Sully. Some girls may want to dress as the Avatar of Dr. Grace Augustine. Whichever role your child wants to play, it can be easy for them to dress up as a character from Avatar.

For girls who want to be Neytiri, you will need a blue full body bodysuit, as well as a long braided wig, a cloth "apron", a gauntlet, as well as beaded necklaces and bracelets. You could put all this together yourself, however, it is very easy to find this costume at a reputable costume shop. Most of the prepared costumes also include a tail, and feathers and other elements of the costume to make it as real as possible

The Jake Sully Avatar costume is one that can be purchased from a costume shop. However, it is also easy to put together from many boys' current wardrobes. With a blue turtleneck, a pair of black shoes, some khaki pants and a field or expedition jacket, you have almost all you need for your costume. As with the Neytiri costume, you will need a wig or to braid your son's hair to get the full effect. However, many of the Sully costumes include a mask. It is your choice if you have your child wear one or not.

While not many children would dress as Dr. Grace Augustine, the researcher and teacher, it would offer children an opportunity to dress up without feeling self conscious or feeling "naked". To Neytiri's typical costume, slip on a pink or white tank top and a pair of jeans.

While masks are available for both Jake and Neytiri, the real beauty of this costume can be in how you interpret your child's personality and make it shine in their make up. Use a blue body paint as a base coat and apply it to your child's neck, face, lips and ears. Now make dark stripes that look like a zebra or a cat on their face, then add light colored dots in between the stripes. You can add prosthetic ears or simply make them out of paper and attach them with bobby pins.

While many of the Avatar costumes for kids, especially the Sully costumes offer your child the ability to use a mask, remember to safety while trick or treating. Masks offer limited visiblility, making it difficult for children to see and be seen. Trick or treat in groups, preferably with an adult.

Hippie Halloween Costumes Are Groovy For 2010!

So you want to dress up this Halloween and you're just not sure of what it is will get you feelin' good about your costume choice. Well think about how a Hippie Halloween costume would fit you. The best thing about getting into a Hippie costume is that they are just so much fun to accessorize. Not talking about the actual outfits themselves right now...let's look at the accessories.

What are the theme's that Hippie Halloween costumes play off of? Well, you have your Flower Power, Peace Symbols, Happy Faces and so on. Some great accessories are the Hippie sunglasses. Perfect circle lenses in all kinds of colors. Even sunglasses with peace signs on the front....groovy baby...groovy.

Also you have the peace sign necklaces and peace sign earrings. There's even peace sign shoe clips! We could go on and on...and the Hippie party supplies have even more choices.

When my two children, my girlfriend and myself dressed up three years ago as hippies, we had a blast! I actually let my hair grow for the whole year. The longest it's ever been, way past my ears and the bangs came past my nose. My girlfriend did this thing where she straightened her hair, man she looked (looks) hot. My kids opted to wear wigs. Our outfits just tied everything together perfectly. I got a simple shirt and hippie vest, head band, necklaces and bracelets and used my own ripped jeans and sandals. My girlfriend did her jeans too, but sewed on some peace patches here and there. The kids got full blown costumes. We loved it so much, we're doing it again this year...and my kids will need new costumes...but that's ok.

Now, if you're a couple thinking about taking the Hippie plunge and by all means I'm sure you'll look darn good doing so...you may even want to consider hosting a Halloween party using the wild hippie decorations to keep your theme playing out throughout your home. I'm sure all your friends would love to join in on the fun. And even more fun is having everyone bring a carved pumpkin to the party and lighting them outside when it gets dark out. The kids will love it!

Cheers and have a safe and groovy Halloween baby!

Tips For Finding the Best Adult Halloween Costume

Finding the perfect adult Halloween costume is very important. After all, there's no telling how many parties you're going to be invited to, how many costume contests you may be entered in, or just how much fun you're going to have. Not only will you want a costume that looks great but you're also going to want one that no one else has!

The best way to find adult Halloween costumes that are perfect for you are to look for ones that fit your personality and jive with the things that you like best. Shopping for the latest fashions and trends is ok to do but you've got to keep in mind that you may not be the only person dressed in this costume. It's possible that you might run into someone who's dressed as the same character or wearing a similar outfit, or worse yet - the same exact costume. Unfortunately that's just as bad as being dressed identically. So instead, really think deep and you're sure to find the best costume for your needs.

You Can Alter Your Costume

There's nothing wrong with wanting one of this year's newest styles or greatest creations. There are loads of incredible new adult Halloween costumes for both men and women. What you can do to be a little bit different is to take those great buys and tweak them slightly to make them your own.

For instance, let's say a great vampire movie just came out and the latest adult Halloween costume choice is a vampire with all black clothing. You could take that same costume, but you could change the color of the clothing. Or you could combine two costume choices so that you are a vampire with pointy ears and a skeleton like nose, or perhaps add a classic vampire cape to a modern costume, or anything else you can think of.

The point is that you can take a great costume and customize it to make it your own creation. You don't have to do a lot - just be creative and add your own personal touch. Add some knock out accessories, change the colors a little bit, add a unique wig, and make it your own.

It's Got to be Comfortable and Durable

While finding the perfect style adult Halloween costume is important, you also want to make sure you won't mind wearing all night long. You're going to be spending a lot of time walking, partying, and dancing throughout the night. Remember that if you're going to be hopping between several parties and staying out all night, you're going to want something that's suitable to wear for the forecast temperature and that will also look just as fabulous at the end of the night as it did at the beginning.

Beware of loose fitting fabrics that will need to be adjusted throughout the evening. Also be aware of the really thick costumes that can get too hot because those costumes are probably going to come off half-way through the night. Even worse, you might really have your heart set on a skimpy outfit, like a Gladiator outfit or a Harem outfit, but if it gets cool through the night, you may end up covering your outfit with a coat or jacket.

It's important to put some thought into your adult Halloween costume before adding it to your shopping cart. Be sure that it fits your personality and your individual style. It's also important that it's comfortable to wear throughout the long evening.

How to Make a Tinkerbell Costume for Halloween

How to Be Tinkerbell this Halloween in Ten Minutes or Less

The enchanting Tinkerbell is always a popular choice every Halloween. Ask any costume store and they'll show you a collection of Tinkerbell Halloween costumes. It's probably Tinkerbell's fragile playfulness, the naughtiness of her magic, or her understated heroine factor.

Whatever the case, many girls, both young and young at heart, have their own Tinkerbell phase. While others choose to be scary or gory or intense, some just like to be the plain tiny but ever-loyal Tinkerbell. After all, it's the tiny little beings that can get in the eyes.

The never-ending appeal of this friendly fairy from Neverland goes back as far as 1904 when J.M. Barrie first created Tinkerbell's character in his novel Peter Pan. Ever since, we've always been fascinated the promise of flight as Tink generously sprinkles us with her magic pixie dust.

Tinkerbell Halloween costumes don't have to be costly. You can buy them from any Halloween costume stores, or even make at your own home. With just a few available materials, you can turn your mom's old skirts into Tinkerbell Halloween costumes.

Instant Tinkerbell Halloween costumes

What you need:

- Fitted t-shirt

- Old skirt you don't mind cutting short (traditionally, Tinkerbell's dress is light green, but any color will do)

- Bendable, but not too soft wire

- White see-through old stockings

- Garter

- Light-blue and silver sequins

- Stick for wand

- Silver ribbon (about 3 yards)

- Gold glitter as pixie dust

- Pliers

- Glue gun or plain glue

1. Zigzag-cut an old but decent skirt at the hem, three or four inches above the knee, or as short as you can be comfortable in.

2. Carefully fashion some wires into a pair of wings, making sure they are both the same shape and size. Twist and tie the ends with the pliers.

3. Sew the garter onto the wing. Make sure the armhole fits snugly.

4. Next, stretch some old stockings over the wire until they're taut.

5. Glue some sequins onto the wings in a sort of leaf vein pattern.

6. Prepare the magic wand by wrapping an ordinary stick with silver ribbon. Glue on both ends of the stick. For the tip, gather about ten 12-inch strips of the same ribbon, tie into one end and let sprout and fall freely.

7. For a more regal Tinkerbell Halloween costume, you can also wear a tiara, some glitters on your skin, and a pair of white doll shoes.

8. Tinkerbell Halloween costumes aren't complete without a bag of gold glitter you sprinkle on people as fairy dust.

Buying Cheap Halloween Costumes

Halloween is always a fun time of the year. You get to celebrate a fun holiday, and in your favorite costumes. The problem is that most great costumes are expensive, and many people can't even afford to buy their favorite Halloween apparel because of the high prices. Regular retailers have been taking advantage of the prices wealthier individuals are willing to pay for costumes and are raising costume prices. Online retailers on the other hand have been bringing down prices, and they're now the cheapest and quickest way to buy your Halloween clothing.

Buying Online - Some Guidelines

1) Make Sure it's exactly what you wanted. A lot of times costumes will have exact specifications as to what they look like and what they come with. Read the description carefully and don't buy something you don't really like; there are plenty of other option available in an online store.

2) Make sure you know your size. Make sure you get your exact measurements and figure out which costume size fits you best. Nothing is worse than a costume that doesn't fit you right.

3) Buy the accessories that fit the costume well. Accessories are often times even cheaper than the already cheap costume, and really help make a costume look complete. Even little things like fake blood or magic staves will help go from good to great.

4) Buy from a reliable online retailer. Nothing is worse than getting scammed in an online transaction, and to prevent this you should always use a well-reputed online costume dealer.

One online s I really recommend that I've nothing but great experiences with is http://dascheap.com/. They sell quality stuff cheap, and ship out fast. Follow these 4 guidelines and you'll be well on your way to buying cheap Halloween costumes. that have the quality of the more expensive alternatives.

SuperHero Halloween Costume Ideas

If you've always wanted to be a superhero then you're in luck because the Superhero Halloween Costume choices have never been better. There are tons of them to choose from, they look great, and they're made to last. It seems like Hollywood gives up a new superhero movie every year so there's always something new to take us by storm.

Don't worry - you don't have to choose a new superhero costume unless you want to because the vintage costumes come across just as great as well. Your costume choice will depend on which superpower you've got to have and what you want in a costume.

Which SuperPower Is For You?

When you were a kid, you probably wished more than anything else that you could read people's minds or walk through walls. Maybe you even tried to move things with your mind or scale tall buildings. Whatever that power was that you idolized as a child, you should find a superhero that has that power and buy that particular costume. Between Marvel, DC, and all the superheroes created by other comic labels, there is bound to be a superhero who has the powers you've always wanted.

Should You Be Traditional?

There's no rule of thumb that says you've got to be dressed as a traditional superhero. In fact, you can delve outside the realm of the normal and you can create your own costume using a comical compilation of various different outfits. You can mix and match capes and masks until you design you own superhero Halloween costume.

Or create a brand new superhero of your own to suit your personality. Any superhero outfit can be customized to suit whatever you want. You also have a huge range of lesser known superheroes to choose from, if you want to be completely different.

Don't Be Afraid To Set Yourself Apart

The one problem with superhero Halloween costume choices is that they're very popular. Some people don't care about that but some do. If you do then that means that you're somewhat likely to run into someone who has the same costume as you. You may decide to go dressed as Superman and find that there's someone at the party dressed as Superman, too. What would you do?

Even if his costume is made by another designer and is created a different way, there will still be two Supermen at the party. This is not really much fun when it happens. It can be confusing because everyone may think that you're the other person and vice versa. The only way to avoid this is to set yourself apart. Maybe you could be a Gothic Superman dressed all in black. Change things up a little bit by being creative so you won't have to look at a replica of yourself all night long.

You'll know when you've found the perfect Superhero Halloween Costume for your individual personality. You'll be sure to turn heads, especially if you choose one of the cool muscle man costumes that make superhero's look even more awesome. Be creative if you'd like and change things up a little. Either way, you'll be sure to get the best dressed award at this year's costume party.

3 Tips To Find The Perfect Boys Halloween Costume

Shopping for a boys Halloween costume doesn't have to be difficult.? You want it to fit well, be comfortable, and be reasonably priced.? But more importantly you want to be sure that the costume fits your child's personality and will let him shine on Halloween Eve.

When shopping for a boys Halloween costume you just need to be sure that you're buying something that he's going to like.? Buying a dancer's outfit will never work if your child is into Ninja's and Barbarian Warriors instead.? Just like you wouldn't want to get a construction worker costume for a child who's into school and learning.? Instead, just follow these 3 tips to get the best results:

Pay Attention To What He Does

We may never truly be able to choose the perfect boys Halloween costume but we sure can try.? The best way to begin the process is to pay attention to what our boys do and to what they enjoy.? What kind of shows do they like to watch on TV?? Do they have a favorite movie character?? Do they have a hobby that would lend itself to a great Halloween costume??

Listen To What He Says

If you ask a child directly what he wants to wear for Halloween, chances are his answer won't always be what he's really thinking of.? Or that answer may be different from day to day because kids can be funny that way. They are also notorious for changing their minds at very short notice. Instead of asking directly, try listening to the things that pop up in conversation.

The two of you might be driving when suddenly he blurts out that he loves the new Toy Story movie, or some character in a book he's reading. Or, you might overhear him talking to his friends about how cool Iron Man is, or, if you're lucky, you'll hear him say that he wishes he could be such and such for Halloween. By listening close to his conversations and things he says to you, you have a higher chance of finding that costume your child will just love. Start up a conversation if you need to.

Take Notice of Things He Likes

Movies characters make great costume ideas so take notice if there's a new movie out that he's dying to see.? He may become infatuated with a certain character and that can give you a great idea of what kind of boys Halloween costume to get.? If he's a reader then make a note of his favorite books. For instance, if he's really into Harry Potter or the Twilight series, he might enjoy being Harry Potter or a vampire for Halloween. He might love comic books, so suggest a costume of his favorite comic book hero like Batman or Spiderman.

What it all comes down to is this.? If you truly want to find the perfect boys Halloween costume for your child, you need to pay attention to everything he does, what he talks about, and what he surrounds himself with. Of course, you can also just come out and ask him. You never know when he's had the perfect costume on his mind for some time and boom, the job is done. If you're looking to surprise him then all of the tactics discussed above will be sure to work.? You'll come up with the best boys Halloween costume for some trick or treat festivities that will be remembered for years to come.
